The Fond Land Preservation Foundation (the “Foundation”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to acquire open space in Los Angeles and/or Ventura Counties to enhance and protect the ecological and recreational enjoyment of open space for future generations by providing a site for the public. Acquired property will be dedicated in the name of Rosemary Ann Fond and her father Charles Fond.

The Foundation was established in 2004 from the generous gift of Rosemary Ann Fond through her estate planning.

Our goal is to acquire and protect lands which will provide public recreation and/or scenic enjoyment.

As cities grow and urban density increases, the encroachment of houses and businesses lead to the continued loss of open space in all its forms. The Foundation supports the preservation, expansion and protection of open space in Los Angeles and/or Ventura Counties . In these Counties open space might consist of chaparral, forest, wetlands, agricultural land, meadows or beaches.

Once the Foundation has purchased open space, it will be dedicated and opened to the public, thus protecting the loss of scenic land to development It is the current intention of the Fond Land Preservation Foundation to turn over the day-to-day operation of the open space to a governmental agency, but this plan is subject to governmental approval and budgets. In the interim, the Foundation will operate the open space.

Within our first year, the Fond Land Preservation Foundation was able to secure the right to acquire approximately 500 acres of open space in the City of Los Angeles. This land, which consists of chaparral and riparian vegetation is suitable for hiking and riding trails. In honor of our founders, Charles Fond and his daughter Rosemary Ann Fond, the area will be dedicated as the Fond Family Open Space.

Over the last several months we have heard from many of the residents in Shadow Hills, Lakeview Terrace, Sunland, Tujunga, Sherman Oaks, Valley Village and Burbank. They are unanimously delighted with the creation of the Fond Family Open Space.

But in order to continue our work of securing open space for public recreation WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Donations of any size are welcomed and should be sent to the Foundation's business office at 11620 Wilshire Blvd. Ste 700, Los Angeles, California 90025.
